....Been workin' on some thangs!!

In the last couple of months, I have been bitten by the Quilting Bug!  Here some pics....

This one, I just finished last night.  I must admit my OCD is very happy with the precision required to pull one of these off.  The whole notion of cutting up pieces to assemble them in a different way and have the entire piece make sense is 'satisfying'.  My sons were so pleased with my 'sample' that 3 of them requested ones for their beds.   And, the other, requested I show him how to do this.  A major observation to note.....ORIENTATION of the pieces is key.  If the directions recommended cutting on the diamond instead of the 'visual' straight.....do so.  Cutting my feature characters on the diamond or diagonal would have resulted in a vertical orientation in the finished piece.
So, if anyone asks......I meant to do this!!  LOL!!

I am soooooo tickled with the design of this quilt.  It is what drew me into the 'Quilting Zone'.  Modern quilt designs and fabric options available to us today are so beautiful. I had just as much fun making the selections as I did piecing the blocks!  Thanks Suzy's Premium Pattern @CRAFTSY for the inspiration and instructions for this one!!

Sewing Project with and for My Guys!!

Another project completed---- Felt and needle artwork name banners are hung in my guys rooms (project started-- April, 2013).   We created our own frames from wood trimming pieces.  Dad gave us a Wood Shop 101 session on mitre cuts.  Don't they look suspicious!!  :^)

After Mom and Dad assembled the cut pieces, my guys chose their colors and painted their frames.

Inside, the guys cut out the letters of their names from felt and tried the needle artwork.  (Can't find these pics----aaargh.).  Here are the finished banners!!

~~~On to finishing the next sewing adventure~~~
Playin' Catch-Up---February 2010
Wow!! This was a busy month for our family! With the Blizzard of 2010, we celebrated our son's 6th birthday. His favorite character from the show Word World is Chef Pig. So, I made him and his brothers chef hats with aprons to bake cupcakes for his birthday.
Here is the birthday boy in having a ball!!
They were way excited. So much so, that we did not get to the actual baking. :^)
Instead, our sons performed the Chef Pig episodes with make-believe ingredients. It was great!!! No washing dishes after their performances. Worked for me!! :^)
